“around the world“ by the legendary duo daft punk was released in april 1997 as the second single from their debut album, homework. the song, featuring the phrase “around the world“ repeated 144 times, became a global club hit, topping dance charts in multiple countries. michel gondry directed the music video, which showcases five groups of characters on a vinyl record-like platform. each one represents a different instrument: robots for vocals, athletes for bass guitar, disco girls for keyboard, skeletons for guitar, and mummies for drums. gondry aimed to highlight choreography without fast cuts, with blanca li refining the sequence. costumes were designed by florence fontaine, and lighting was managed by gondry's brother, making the project a family collaboration. 📹Daft Punk Archive #64
