More women are joining Mexico’s cartels and criminal groups, according to the International Crisis Group. Women involved in criminal organizations make up 5-8% of the total number of recent recruits—around 350-560 people. Usually, it is women from poor backgrounds and broken families that join gangs. Male crime bosses tend to value women for their perceived competence, respect for hierarchy and the fact they are less suspicious due to gender stereotypes. Mexico isn’t the only central American country struggling with organised crime. Honduras suffers the same problem. Violent gang wars are rampaging here with different groups fighting over territory. Listen to a female member of one of the local criminal syndicates, talking about her role. She is the subject of our documentary, ‘Honduran Femicide’. #Mexico #Honduras FOLLOW News&Docfilms Channel Источник: RT Documentary
