Georg Philipp TELEMANN (1681-1767) Fantasia n° 10 in f# minor TWV (12 Fantasie per il Flauto Traverso senza basso, Hamburg ) Alexis Kossenko, flute Flute by Martin Wenner, after Pierre Gabriel Buffardin, Dresden () boxwood, imitation ivory A = 400 © Les Concerts de Pan réalisation : Colin Laurent // ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT “The instrument on which I performed this Telemann Fantasia is a very important one. It is a copy of a flute signed « BUFFARDIN LE FILS » which was rediscovered recently, and which is the only one known by this maker. The fact is that Buffardin was also the star of the Dresden Orchestra, in fact THE great French Flautist who came to Germany and contributed to make the « flûte traversière » known and popular in Germany. « Buffardin Le Fils » is also a mystery : is it the son of Pierre Gabriel Buffardin, the famous soloist, or more probably (and this is my conviction) Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin
