The Christmas Song (often additionally subtitled “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire“ or the original caption, “Merry Christmas To You“) is a 1944 classic Christmas song written by musician, composer, and singer Mel Tormé and Bob Wells. According to Tormé, the song was written during a warm summer. In an effort to stay ’cool’ by thinking ’cool’, the most played Christmas song was born. The Nat King Cole Trio made the first recording of the song in 1946. This version was broadcast in the TROS TV show ’Grant & Forsyth Show’ on Boxing Day, December 26, 2001.
