Welcome to Willow Run, one of aviation's biggest hidden gems. Located just under 10 miles west of Detroit's international airport, Willow Run acts as a sort of living museum. With its traffic consisting primarily of on demand cargo charters, the airport is filled with classic jets that have found a new life in the freight industry. Home to carriers such as USA Jet, Kalitta, and Ameristar, classic aircraft such as the Boeing 727 and MD80 are flying almost daily. Those smoky trails and thundering roar of those classic JT8D engines once thought to be extinct are a common sight (and sound) at Willow Run! This video focuses on the aircraft equipped with JT8D engines, providing 22 minutes of nonstop smoky and cackling action of these classic jets in action during the summer months at the airport. In addition to the three carriers listed above, there are also several appearances of Maddogs from Aeronaves TSM, a frequent visitor to the airfield. Sit back and enjoy this blast form the past wi
