Located in the North region, in the green Minho, Terras de Bouro is a territory of great natural beauty, right in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Rich in archaeological legacies, such as those of Roman, Suebi, Visigothic occupation, in fact, it is thought that the term “Bouro“ will come from “Búrios“, a Suebi people with strong religious traditions that lived in this region. One of the main archaeological landmarks in the region is the important Via Romana that connected Braga to Astorga, one of the most important in the Iberian territory, still used in the Middle Ages as one of the roads of Santiago, with more than 30 Roman milestones. Terras de Bouro has a rich architectural heritage, marked by local materials and the rurality of this mountainous landscape, which has been maintained over the centuries, where there are still drylands, granaries, threshing floors, water mills or small shrines and shrines.
