Instead of waiting until midnight, I figured that putting it out there today would be a better idea. This is probably the most iconic disco song ever, you know what is coming right from the very start. It spent five weeks at #1 disco and found a second life when it was included on the greatest disco album of all time, “Saturday Night Fever“. It has also been inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. “The Towering Inferno“ was a 1974 Irwin Allen disaster flick that evoked powerful imagery and the metaphor was incorporated into the song. “The funk was flaming“ lyrics were a very accurate description of the song and the movie is now forever tied together with it to me.
