Its June of 1966 we are here at Rahway, NJ. As GG-1 hauled train 735 from Exchange Place Jersey City pulls in to have the G swapped for diesel power. This train is headed down the New York & Long Branch RR. To Bay Head, NJ. Off the PRR. New York to Washington main line. There are no wires past South Amboy, engine swaps were done there as well. Train 735 was usually heavy on a Friday evening arriving at Rahway adjacent Mc Graws yard in Rahway. The reason of the Baldwin / EMD combination was not enough Baldwin power available to make up three units, so an E-7 (PRR class EP-20) was subsisted. As most know, Baldwins wont mu with EMDs; hence we have two separate crews. I Ed K. got my serious railfanning start at this location back in 1954, started taking serious pictures here in 1955 of this operation with the K-4s being swapped for the electrics. I wish I had a movie camera back then! Great times on the PRR. Even rode many of cabs, including K-4 1361 Rahway to South Amboy, with Ralph Maxon engin
