SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP -- The Sheriff of Clark County is sounding off after a horse was shot in Springfield Township. According to the report filed at the Clark County Sheriff's Office Monday, the owner of the horse was inside his house when he heard gunshots. It happened Monday around 4:30 in the afternoon. Craig Pritt says after he heard the gunshots he immediately went outside his home on Redmond Road in Springfield Township. Near his mailbox, Pritt says he found gun casings. He then realized his horse had been shot. “I think that to shoot any animal, an innocent animal, especially a horse in a pasture in broad daylight has to be an actual crime against our community,“ Sheriff Gene Kelly said. The nine-year-old horse was hit in the leg. Sheriff Kelly says the cost of the surgery may be too much for the Pritt family to pay.
