New album from the Porcupine Tree keyboardist, 'Planets Persona', is OUT NOW: Richard Barbieri originally emerged in to the public eye as a member of the new-wave pioneers Japan in 1980s England, helping to create the ground-breaking synthesiser sound that defined the band and influenced the likes of The Human League, Duran Duran, Gary Numan, Talk Talk and a whole raft of artists to follow. Listen to and learn more about Barbieri's solo career - Following Japan, Barbieri became a core member of Porcupine Tree, playing keyboards on all the band’s albums since 1993 alongside Steven Wilson, Gavin Harrison and Colin Edwin, as well as releasing two striking solo albums: Things Buried and Stranger Inside. And now... some exciting news will follow very soon - so watch this space! Barbieri's ear for composing unique soundscapes and synth textures recently led to collaborations with other talented composers, such as Steve Hogarth (Marillion) Steve Jansen & Mick Karn (Japan) and Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree). Following the artistic and critical success of his 2005 debut album “Things Buried“, “Stranger Inside“ further developed Barbieri's unique approach to texture, harmony and rhythm. Writing and producing the album himself, the album includes contributions from long-term creative partners Steve Jansen (mixing/co-arranging), Steven Wilson (mastering), Gavin Harrison (drums) and the legendary double bass player, Danny Thompson. Although instrumental in nature, most tracks from “Stranger Inside“ feature radical and atmospheric manipulations of the sampled voices of Tim Bowness and Suzanne Barbieri.
