Drills of Northern Fleet: crew of destroyer Admiral Levchenko detect submarine of mock enemy in Barents Sea As part of planned combat training missions on the eve of the Surface Forces’ Day, the destroyer Admiral Levchenko was searching for a submarine of the mock enemy at combat training grounds in the Barents Sea. The exercise took place in a two-way format. The ship faced a submarine of the Fleet. A sonar team detected noises of the submarine screws and estimated the rate of their rotation speed. They determined echo-bearing and range to the submarine after detecting it. The crew contacted the submarine saying it was in the Russian territorial waters and ordered it to emerge. In addition, the crew of the destroyer Admiral Levchenko deployed arms and technical assets, supposing the submarine would not submit. The submarine had to emerge and leave territorial waters of the Russian Federation. Russian Defence Ministry Source: MoD Russia
