It's powered with simple electronics and a 10000mAh USB power bank. This gives the speaker 4x the battery life of a UE Boom! As many parts of the speaker are made from wood as possible, including the speaker grills and volume knob. See the links above for the full supplies list and build plans. Note that you will probably also need to wire up the USB D and D- lines for USB charging to work. The data lines are used by modern USB chargers (including fast chargers) to query the USB power bank about what type of charging it supports.
