The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric dam located in China. It has been the subject of controversy due to concerns about forced resettlement, suppression of dissent, and labor rights . In addition, there have been concerns about the safety of the dam, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding . In 2020, heavy rains caused the Three Gorges Dam reservoir to reach a record high, leading to flooding that killed hundreds of people in the central province of Henan .
