Tony nominee Eva Noblezada took over the Tony Awards on Sunday night with a performance of “I'd Give My Life for You“/“Exodus“ from Miss Saigon. She played Kim, a role originated by Lea Salonga in the 1991 original Broadway production, in the 2017 revival. In the musical, Kim, a young bar girl orphaned by the Vietnam War, falls in love with Chris, an American GI. With the fall of Saigon, they are separated, and she is left with their son. Jon Jon Briones plays The Engineer in this revival, a role originated by Jonathan Price, and Alistar Brammer plays Chris. The ensemble also performed a bit of “This Is the Hour.“ Laurence Connor directs the production, which hails from the Les Miserables team of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg. After nabbing two Tony nominations, the show will segue from its limited Broadway engagement to a national tour.
