Forbes cites Andrew Perpetua who regularly publishes supposed Russian vehicle losses daily on X. He claims Russia is losing between 20-50 vehicles a day, every day, suggesting catastrophic and unsustainable losses. Yet Andrew has been using this “methodology“ for over a year, and has made similar predictions as early as March 2023 when he claimed Russia’s armored forces would be exhausted by June-July 2023 and that was when Ukraine would launch their 2023 offensive. The use of such “open source intelligence“ led many Western analysts to wrongly assume the 2023 Ukrainian offensive would steam-roll over a depleted Russian force. In reality, Russia decisively defeated the offensive and has fielded forces stronger than at any other point during the Special Military Operation.
