Armenak Bakırcıyan was an Armenian revolutionary would join the struggle against Turkish fascism along with Turkish, Turkish, and Armenian communists in TKP-ML. He was born in 1953 and was martyred on 13 May 1980 in Elazığ during a shootout with the Turkish Jandarma. He went by the name Orhan Bakır in order to hide his connection to Armenians as to avoid any retaliation by Turkish fascists against the remaining Armenian community in Turkey. TKP-ML is one of the only organizations in Turkey which recognized the Armenian Genocide, supports the return of the Armenian people to their homeland, and actively fights to achieve that goal.
