Deep ploughing is something almost unique to the polders in the Netherlands. In this case the heavy clay soil (50% clay content) is ploughed under deep and fresh sand and peat is brought up. It looks extreme but the clay and sand will later be mixed, creating a versatile top soil that can grow nearly every crop. This is for an organic farm who will grow vegetable crops. The lighter land gives them more working days which are needed for mechanical weed control. The job is carried out by a New Holland
