His Majesty King Charles III is welcomed to Balmoral Castle and Estate in Deeside, Scotland, for his summer residence on Monday 19th August 2024. Greeting him was Alexander (Sandy) Manson, His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire, here with his wife. The Royal Guard from Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, 5 SCOTS, were under the command of Major Neil Cargill and were lined up ready for inspection by His Majesty the King. With them was the royal favourite, Shetland pony, Corporal Cruachan IV, mascot of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. Also present were the Pipes and Drums of The Royal Corps of Signals and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. These led the Royal Guard out of Balmoral Esate and back in after the welcoming ceremony and inspection. The King too time to chat to many of the soldiers present and also with members of the public who had gathered at the Gates of Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
