In 1988, from the 17th of June to the 17th of July, in Berlin there was a series of concerts celebrating the music of American pianist Cecil Taylor. There's 13 LPs worth of recorded material overall from this series of concert, which chronologically begins with a duo show of Taylor and Günter “Baby“ Sommer, known for his contributions to Synopsis / Zentralquartett and his connections to the European free improvisation scene. The two have wildly differing styles which clash surprisingly well over the 74 minutes of music on here. Sommer utilizes every aspect of his one-of-a-kind drumkit to aptly assist Taylor in making motifs and dissonant improvisations.
