◾Plan Colombia: US supported operation to combat the growing of coca and leftist guerillas through the fumigation of coca fields via aerial spraying and strengthening the military. The Colombian military colluded with right-wing paramilitaries who brutally attacked areas leading to the murder or disappearance of hundreds of people. This would be immediately followed by aerial spraying of the area. In total, 1.8 million people were forcibly displaced. Additionally, it was revealed, in order to inflate combat fatalities, the Colombian military would murder civilians and dress them up as FARC rebels.
