Documentary about attempts to develop nuclear energy from fusion reactions, including General Peron’s announcement in 1951 that Argentina had produced energy from nuclear fusion; Britain’s Zeta experiment in 1958, and the announcement by two scientists in America in 1989 that they had found cold fusion in a test tube, through more successful research, culminating in a new giant fusion experiment - ITER, the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor - which is being planned as a collaboration between Europe, the USA, Japan and Russia. Arguments againt continuing the research which may not achieve the desired aim are also heard from people who claim that the same resources could more usefully and effectively be spent on renewable sources of energy.
