The legs and hips of the figure need to be sewn together carefully so that the legs do not inhibit the movement or swing too freely. It's a delicate operation! A piece of stronger cotton (twill) is used to keep the two pieces of the leg in place so it doesn't spin. The extra twill at the top of the leg is used to attach the leg to the “hip“ -- actually the bottom of the body. The body is 4 wooden beads strung on gimp and covered with cheesecloth. Part I of this series is here: “Fluffy Beads from Plastic Straws“ is here: This project's challenge is to create a miniature marionette without the need for power equipment or skills beyond knowing how to sew.
