#desertfathers Abba Moses was one of the great desert fathers of Egypt. He lived a wretched life before becoming a monk, even leading a band of thieves. But in time, he repented and spent the rest of his life in an ascetic struggle to purify himself. He was guided by Abba Macarius the Great and Abba Isidore. The title of this video comes from the one thief who hung on the cross next to Christ, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.“ Saint Moses the Black (330–405), (also known as Abba Moses the Robber, and the Strong) was an ascetic monk and priest in Egypt in the fourth century AD and a notable Desert Father. The name Ethiopian comes from two Greek words Etho(αἴθω) which means to burn and Ops(ὄψ) which means face. This was the name ancient Greek speakers called Subsaharan Africans: Burnt Faces.
