Beatport : RELEASE DATE 2022-10-14 CATALOG EMH035 LABEL Eat My Hat Music Amir Farhoodi Saleh Continuing to add exciting new talent to their roster, Ziger's Eat My Hat Music welcomes Amir Farhoodi and Saleh to the label for their debut EP. Coming from a trance background, Iranian artist Amir Farhoodi first emerged with a remake of Envio's classic 'Touched by the Sun'. Played by Armin Van Buuren, it set the course for future projects via John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings and Lost Language. Meanwhile, fellow countryman Saleh Bahaedini aka Saleh has been a fixture of the electronic underground for the better part of a decade. Releases via Astrolabe and Easy Summer highlight his discography, while recent collaborations with Amir Farhoodi have showcased the duo's creative synergy. Now, combining their extensive forces once again, Amir and Saleh debut on Eat My Hat Music with 'Signals'. The release begins in fine fashion with the lighter monochromes of the title selection. Beginning with perfectly sculpted beats and sleek rhythms, it's a production that's compelling from the start. Flickering percussive arrangements and creamy arps slowly encase the framework, as the low-end shape shifts through rolling contours and emotive chord changes. Building to a poignant apex across the main break, the duo let bucolic atmospheres rise, eventually revealing a mediative, thought-provoking conclusion. The second and final selection 'State of Mind' finds Amir and Saleh crafting a robust framework of plush beats and warm, well carved grooves. Its rhythmic energy grows quickly, as waves of percussion, striking stabs and sweeping effects add electric drive across the first act. Melodic fragments and playful arps carry the journey into a captivating break, which is highlighted by jangly hooks and soulful instrumentation, creating a cross-cultural vibe as the groove returns for a smooth exhilarating finale. Energetic and timeless in equal measure, it rounds out what is an inspired EP from Amir Farhoodi and Saleh, an artist duo who continues to rise up through the progressive house landscape as we look towards 2023.
