This is a video done as a supplement to a watercolor class taught by Gary Tucker in Boston. In this exercise I try approach a complicated and very busy background with an single toned wash - this helps the painter to simplify their mind and brushwork in recording general shapes or patterns (repeated shapes) instead of each and every object . Detail and nuance can be added to this at any time Here I place detail to enhance the simple shapes and patterns created in the initial doing a single color study this painting was done primarily in 2 hues -cobalt blue and burnt sienna and neutral tint as well. Painted on rough paper using mop brushes and a sablette as well Thank you for liking and sharing this short video and for your comments.
