In this video essay, I discuss what makes Daniel Day-Lewis one of the best actors of all time, more specifically about how he uses his voice/accent to the full effect. I talk about movies such as There will be blood (directed by Paul Thomas Anderson), Phantom Thread, In the name of the father, Lincoln and gangs of new york. Comparing his acting to the likes of Jared Leto and Leonardo Di Caprio. Daniel Day-Lewis portrays some of the best characters ever put to film and in my opinion, a large part of that is down to his voice. Also, look at Daniel Day-Lewis's interviews with him discussing the importance of his voice which led him winning an oscar for best lead actor and also look at how his method acting helped him develop a character in his best scenes. Also, the iconic scene of I've abandoned my child is analysed. Hope you enjoy the video :) Link to my Letterboxd: Link to my Twitter: Business Enquiries:
