On The Freedom Side LIVE, Thursday, 1/25 at 3pm ET/12pm PT, Eugene and Rania are joined by special guests: Sevim Dagdelen - In Germany, 10 MPs have quit the Left Party (Die Linke) due to its increasingly pro-war stance and established a new party called the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW). Defined by a pro-peace policy, BSW emerged in response to the collapse of anti-war positions within the Left with respect to the US-proxy war in Ukraine and the Israeli genocide in Gaza. Sevim Dagdelen, a Bundestag member and one of the founders of BSW, discusses the formation of the Party and the pressing need for a peace-focused political force in Germany. Hassan Abdel Salam - As the 2024 Presidential election season heats up, Muslim American leaders have organized a new campaign urging voters to #AbandonBiden over the President’s complicity in the genocide in Gaza. Over 100 days into the genocide and the deaths of over 25,500 Palestinians, Biden has continued to refuse to call for a ceasefire and has doubled down on his escalation of more war in the Middle East. Hassan Abdel Salam, a professor of human rights, strategy, and sociology at the University of Minnesota and a leader in the #AbandonBiden campaign explains why Muslim voters are increasingly turning their backs on Biden. Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez - Next week, Chicago will be voting on a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Amid the ongoing genocide, which has killed over 25,500 Palestinians and left over a million people at urgent risk of starvation, a growing list of cities in the US are calling for a ceasefire. Chair of the Committee on Health and Human Relations and Alderperson for Chicago's 33rd ward, Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez, joins the show to discuss the effort to bring forth the resolution and the role US cities have in demanding an end to the US funding of Israeli genocide and occupation in Palestine. Mazda Majidi - Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, accused Israel of using “mindless terrorism“ to conceal its military failures in the war on Gaza. In addition to killing over 25,500 Palestinians in Gaza, Israel has been carrying out air strikes in Lebanon and Syria allegedly targeting Hezbollah and Iranian targets. Mazda Majidi, long time anti-war activist and organizer with the ANSWER Coalition, explains how Israel’s genocide in Gaza is affecting Iran’s role in the region and the escalation ladder of a wider regional war. Sean Blackmon, Host of Darker Than Blue LIVE on WPFW 89.3 FM
