Here I am walking at night in the city of Essen, Germany, from the main station to the Kennedyplatz in November 2021, where the international Christmas Market is stationed. Enjoy spectacular Christmas lights in the streets during this walk, and many handmade goods, delicious foods. The scent of roasted almonds, mulled wine and potato pancakes fills the icy air. With around 170 stalls, this is one of the greatest Christmas markets in Germany and has won several awards for its diversity and beauty. Spread throughout the city centre, the huts stand under a sea of twinkling lights - an atmosphere that makes a visit contemplative and dreamlike. Essen, often called the shopping city of Germany, is geographically part of the Rhineland and the larger Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region. It is decidedly gaining ground in importance and denotation as an attractive city in Germany.
