The myth of Isis and Osiris was deeply inspiring and influential in ancient Egyptian religion. It is about the murder of Osiris by his brother Set (Seth), and how Goddess Isis, with the help of Nephthys and Anubis, restored life to Osiris, and how she magically gave birth to Horus who avenged his father. It is one of the best myths in Egyptian mythology reinforcing that death is not the end. My summary of this great myth is taken from various Egyptian sources such as: - ancient funerary texts, - magical spells, - The Book of the Dead, - The History of Plutarch.
