ASPI’s Michael Shoebridge says ships like the Chinese spy ship spotted circling Australia’s coast for three weeks are like an “electronic vacuum cleaner”. “What they’re after are all the electronic and acoustic signals of Australian ships, planes, missiles, radars, and facilities because the Chinese use those to tune their own missiles and weapons systems,” Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “So, it’s a known thing that they do but they’re getting more present more often around Australia as we’ve seen here.”
