Chinese team creates emotional robot

A team of researchers in China have showcased their new humanoid robot, capable of portraying a wide range of emotions. Footage filmed at the University of Science and Technology of China shows the robot, named ‘Guagua,’ singing and telling stories, while displaying different faces. Guagua has 30 motors driving the ‘muscles’ in its face, enabling it to portray human-like expressions. It is designed to provide interaction and engagement with users and to provide personalized feedback and support to meet the user’s emotional needs.
