Chushu, the fourteenth solar term in the twenty-four solar terms, is the second solar term in autumn. It signifies the sun’s celestial longitude reaching 150 degrees, falling around August 22-24 in the Gregorian calendar. By the time of Chushu, we have reached the end of the ’three heats’ period, indicating the conclusion of the scorching hot weather. It marks the conclusion of the intense heat and signifies the beginning of cooler temperatures as autumn approaches.
