Here’s a fun moment from my project in Japan from April 2023. 🇯🇵 I won an amazing research scholarship (Kizuna - which means ‘’bond’’ in Japanese) given by the embassy of Japan in Serbia 🇷🇸 and my city, Novi Sad, and I got to experience a lot of astonishing things. 🌟 I had the honor to do intercultural workshops in my colleague’s cram school. Mr. Hiroaki Kato and I lead his students on an exciting journey of exploring Serbia and Japan and their culture. 🌍🤝 In this workshop, we created a culture tree. 🌳🎨 To make the culture tree, the students first needed to think about what to actually add on the culture tree, so they shared what they thought is important, and I just added a thing or two they couldn’t remember. 🗒️🤔 Having to do inquiry is not a common activity in Japanese education and it was all new for them. 📚🇯🇵 They had to compare Serbia and Japan and before drawing and writing they had to: Explore the flags and the anthem. 🚩🎶 Learn about traditional houses. 🏡 Learn about traditional food. 🍣🍛 Learn about traditional clothes. 👘 Find a person from history that was impactful in their nation and report on it. 📜🔍 They had so much fun and took it very seriously - they didn’t finish so they took papers home and brought back pieces for the tree in the next workshops! I was really surprised by their diligence and the need to make the tree complete. 😄📝 I spent a whole month in Japan and got to teach many amazing, fun topics. I am looking forward to sharing more videos and photos soon! 📷📹 Do you have any amazing stories of teaching abroad? Do share please! 👩‍🏫🌏 #teachersofig #englishforkids #englishforchildren #englishforprimary
