It was likely made for education students or teachers, and produced to serve as a supplement by McGraw-Hill for the book “Adolescent Development“ by Elizabeth B. Hurlock, Ph.D. This text, which attempted to provide a “complete and accurate picture of American adolescents and why they differ from adolescents in other cultures“, is considered a classic in its field and was in print in various editions for several decades. Titles: “Correlated with Adolescent Development“ (:06-:34). Wedding day scene: a marriage between Bob and Mary. Flashback: Mary is then shown as a little girl, asks her mother where babies come from. Her mother makes up a new area for the new baby. Bob's mother, a widower, also answers his questions about sex and childbirth. His mother has Bob play with kittens, so that he can learn a bit about the facts of life. Bob plays with his mother. Bob plays baseball with boys. Mary plays with boys and girls at a swing set (:35-2:54). Mary's mother teaches her about menstruation. Mary's parents discuss. Mary walks in from school, she is quiet at age 11. Her parents discuss her behavior. Mary discusses sex with Mary. Mary reaches puberty at 12 1/2. Mary and her friends discuss sex (2:55-4:49). Mary sits in the park with her friends. Mary is friends with Lucille. Mary's mother is curious about Mary and Lucille's relationship, and worries she might be showing lesbian tendencies. Mary has a crush on a female tennis champion. A football game. Mary has a crush on the captain of the football team (4:50-6:43). Mary looks in the mirror. Her phone rings, its Lucille. Bob sits at a desk while the narrator talks about “nocturnal emissions“ aka wet dreams. Bob talks to his football coach. Girls check out Bob. Bob's mother finds a picture he drew of a couple, nude in a compromising position. Bob answers the phone (6:44-8:53). Bob's mother listens as he talks on the phone to his buddy about taking a girl to a pond, she is disappointed. Bob's date picks him up. Bob's mom takes a call from another girl and isn't pleased (8:54-10:10). Mary hangs out with her friends at a diner. Mary gets asked to a dance. Mary's parents are concerned that Mary is too wrapped up in boys (10:11-12:02). Mary dances with a boy at a school dance. She watches people tease one another. Mary on a date with a boy on a boat. Mary's mother talks boys with her. Mary dates George. Mary and George kiss good night. Mary goes inside her house, into her bedroom. Mary combs her hair. Her mother comes to talk to her. Mary likes dating George but her mother wants her to date others. Bob's mother watches Bob ready himself for a date. Bob's mother doesn't like his date. He leaves for his date (12:03-15:48). Bob's friends drink. Bob drinks and his date smokes as well. Bob's mother is concerned. Mary dates Stanley, they kiss. Mary discusses Stanley with her mother. Stanley moves away, Mary is single again. Mary is back at the diner. She meets Jack. Mary dances with Jack (15:49-17:38). Jack pushes himself on Mary as they neck in the car. She demands to be brought home. Bob finishes dancing with his date. Bob studies more. Bob looks at 45 rpm records (19:03). Mary and Bob meet at a party. Jukebox (18:26). They slow dance. They sit and watch TV together later (19:36). They hang out. They sit in a booth and resolve a quarrel (17:39-20:22). Mary and Bob play walk around and look at a refrigerator in a shop window. “This time, it's for keeps“: the two kiss and hold one another. They kiss good night. Bob with his mother. Mary dances with a boy. Mary's mom talks with her. Mary and Bob are married and leave for their honeymoon. Their parents are sad but happy. The happy couple leave in a car (20:23-22:37).
