The NeoLucida is an optical drawing tool based on the 19th-century camera lucida. A what?? A camera lucida uses a beam-splitting prism to present a ghost image of your subject on your paper. You can also see your hand holding your pencil, which means you can draw directly from real life! If you want to draw realistically, the NeoLucida helps you leap over some of those frustrating hurdles: composition, perspective, and foreshortening. When a live image of your subject is placed on your paper, you don't have to keep switching your view between your subject and your paper. Everything you want to draw is right there on your page! If you're an experienced artist, the NeoLucida can help you jump from first pencil marks to finished work. Spend more time coloring, inking, and shading your work once those first compositional marks are on your page. Draw portraits, still-life setups, and landscapes. Make copies of printed pictures or screen images! The NeoLucida—like its 200-year-old predecessors—will change the way you draw. Give it a try, and let's get drawing!
