Best moments from Frank Zappa's recording sessions with Tina Turner and the Ikettes singing backup vocals in 1973. From these sessions came the albums Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe, the latter of which was released the following year. Zappa was recording in Ike Turner's Bolic Sound Studio, and Ike agreed to the Ikettes singing for the recordings. However, when Tina brought her then husband in to listen to the difficult vocal line they had recorded for the song “Montana,“ Ike responded, “What is this shit?“ and refused to allow the Ikettes to be credited on the albums. Contrary to Ike's wishes, it has become common knowledge that they are indeed the backup singers on “Over-Nite Sensation“ and “Apostrophe,“ and what an awesome job they did with these difficult vocal parts!
