• Unofficial Music Video • Subtitle Lyrics Option • Academy Awards, 1999 • Standard Volume Level • Lyrics Transcript Provided Below This video contains optional subtitles for the lyrics, and these can be activated and deactivated by simply clicking on the “CC“ button beneath the video. This performance is from the 71st Academy Awards ceremony, March 21, 1999, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles. The song was nominated for Best Original Song and was from the film “Babe: Pig In The City“, directed by George Miller. The source video I used to create this one is here: That was the best-quality upload of this performance I could find online. The worst problem with it is that it had the volume level set far too low compared to the majority of music videos, so I have fixed this. Another problem with it is that the edges of the picture were badly in need of cropping and cleaning up, so I have done this. I have also adjusted the colours, making the dark areas darker. I have also faded the audio in at the beginning and out at the end, and I have done so in a way that makes the audience applause quieter, so that the video can be played at a loud volume without the audience applause sounding too loud. I have also upscaled the resolution from 480p to 1080p, as this increases the bitrate, which causes the picture to look slightly better in all the different resolution settings the viewer can select, but please be aware that playing it at the 1080p setting is not going to make it look as good as a true 1080p video. I have also added optional subtitles for the lyrics. This song was written by Randy Newman, arranged by Ed Shearmur. The original version of this song was produced by Bob Ezrin and released in 1998 on the soundtrack album “Babe: Pig In The City (Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture)“ where it was credited to “Peter Gabriel featuring Paddy Maloney and the Black Dyke Mills Band“. I am crediting this performance to “Peter Gabriel & Randy Newman“ because this is who is credited as the performers on the Wikipedia page for the event, found here: #Performers In the film, the song plays over the end credits. It was not released as a single. Apparently the album did not reach the albums chart in any territory. The song was later released as the first track on Peter's 2019 compilation album “Rated PG“, which reached No. 157 in Belgium and apparently did not chart in any other territory. The song was a favourite of the late Irish radio and television broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan, and Peter performed it at Sir Terry's public memorial service at Westminster Abbey following his death in 2016. For more information on this song, see these pages: :_Pig_in_the_City#Soundtrack Update – 2 March 2023: I now have one other video featuring Peter Gabriel, and it's this: Joni Mitchell & Peter Gabriel : “My Secret Place“ (1988) • Official Music Video • HQ Audio • Lyrics I have not been able to find an official presentation of the lyrics to this song, and the presentations found on lyrics websites are not very accurate. Presented below and as optional subtitles in my video is my own transcript of the lyrics, for which I have used those presentations as a guide. Lyrics: “That'll Do“ - Live in 1999 - Peter Gabriel and Randy Newman (Words and Music by Randy Newman) A kind and steady heart can make a grey sky blue And a task that seems impossible is quite possible for you A kind and steady heart is sure to see you through It may not seem like very much right now But it'll do, it'll do When you find yourself in the middle of a storm And you're tired and cold and wet And you're looking for a place that's cozy and warm You'll make it if you never forget A kind and steady heart can conquer doubt and fear A little courage goes a long, long way Gets you a little bit further down the road each day And before you know it, you'll hear someone say “That'll do, babe, that'll do“ [Break] A kind and steady heart is sure to see you through A little courage goes a long, long way Gets you a little bit further down the road each day And before you know it, you'll hear someone say “That'll do, that'll do, that'll do, babe, that'll do“
