Hello! Today, the restoration of the Caucasian dagger has a very interesting history. The dagger was discovered a few weeks ago in a wine cellar that turned out to be flooded in early spring. A couple of months later, when the water subsided, and they managed to get inside, this dagger was found there. It was there for a long time before the flood. So let's start restoring the antique object! This dagger from 19-th century, Eastern Georgia. Simple but with good steel and working. Firstly, I dismantled an old broken handle made of horn. I cleaned the first layer of rust from the blade with an iron brush. I put the dagger and the steel pins in the rust remover. One of the pads on the handle was bent. I boiled this part of the handle in water for 15 minutes and clamped it between the boards to straighten it. I restored the second broken part with another piece of horn from the previous restoration. Likewise, I used epoxy resin for gluing. After drying, I treated the handle and gave a similar shape to the handle. After cleaning, I placed the dagger blade in water with soda, then I moved on to sanding, with an iron brush, and lightly sandpaper (120-1500 grit). After cleaning, I was pleasantly surprised. I found the mark of the master, only one Georgian letter “sh“. I restored the rivets: straightened the pins, re-soldered the caps. After everything was ready, I assembled the handle and riveted it through the washers. For the dagger, I made a scabbard out of beech wood, glued it with old leather and made accessories. My suspension was made of steel a long time ago, and I used it in this project. As usual, I conducted an interesting test for you, thank you for your attention and be sure to share this video. Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
