The signatures are hand sewn with bonded nylon thread, and the notebook is bound in a leather cover which I customized with 3D printed stamps! The pattern on the cover is inspired by Art Deco design. I drew the pattern and designed the embossing plate in Fusion 360. The cover is made from 5-6 oz veg tan leather, and I printed the embossing stamps from PLA on my Prusa i3 MK3S. I printed the stamps at 100% infill with “ of relief, and gave their top faces a light sanding with 220 grit sandpaper. This just knocks off the “3D printed surface texture“, which will get transferred to the leather if it’s not sanded off. Before embossing, I soaked the leather in warm/hot water until the bubbles stopped. Then, I clamped the embossing plate onto the wet leather with as much pressure as I could get from 6 clamps. I removed the clamps after about 40 minutes, which gave me a beautiful impression! I upcycled an old pair of pants to make the headbands (the cloth pieces at the top and bottom of the spine).
