This is a brief introduction to What (IDPA) International Defensive Pistol Association is, the equipment, a quick overview of the rules and how the scoring works. Range Officer Commands: 1. Load and make ready 2. Shooter Ready 3. Standby (beep) 4. RO Warnings are: Stop, Muzzle, Finger or Cover 5. Unload & show clear 6. Slide forward 7. Hammer down (means pull the trigger) 8. Holster 9. Range is Safe (or Clear) Time Penalties: Procedural Error (doing something wrong) = 3 seconds Failure to Neutralize = 5 seconds Hit on non-threat target = 5 seconds (per target) Target miss (aka Mike) = 5 seconds Failure to do right (FTDR) = 20 seconds FTDR is when the competitor behaves or performs in a way not acceptable to the spirit of IDPA.
