In 1984 Johnny Thunders manager Christopher Gierke called Tony James to ask him to come and play bass at a show with Johnny at Gibus Club, Paris. Tony was in the process of putting together Sigue Sigue Sputnik, and brought Neal X with him - who subsequently played guitar that night - and Mark Laff from Generation X to play drums.
