Sound design tutorials Download - How to make a progressive house pluck with Serum The progressive house pluck has been a staple sound in all forms of dance music for nearly a decade. Though it’s difficult to determine an originator of the sound, deadmau5 most certainly popularized the sound and the easiest way to find information on this sound today is by searching for “deadmau5 plucks”. The sound is distinct from other earlier forms of plucks in it’s heavy use of oscillators tuned to perfect fifths as well as ample use of automation on the filters and envelopes. However, creating the same level of detail and expressiveness as deadmau5 was an extremely difficult task until the release of Serum. Starting with the aptly suited factory table Debussy, and one of my custom high pass wavetables, we create a modern version of this staple sound that is highly resolute. The macros are mapped to create a flexible sound that easily morphs between focused mono and detuned stereo, and can be turned from a pluck into lush pad with the turn of a knob.
