On the occasion of a grand tour of China, Lang Lang recalls his childhood and the experiences that made him the pianist he is today. For Lang Lang, it is a journey back to his roots, having left China eight years ago to embark on his worldwide career. Lang Lang’s Carnegie Hall debut on 7 November 2003 here: Born during China's one-child policy, the pianist became his parent's focus. Lang Lang's father gave up his job and moved with Lang Lang to Beijing to develop his musical career. He recognized he had a lot of pressure, but he knew what he wanted: He wanted to dedicate his life to music. And he did it: he became one of the best pianists in the world.
