coach Jim Johnson explains that most of the time that we think an accent is “nasal“ it's actually not! (Some individuals may be, but dialects and accents don't tend to actually be inherently nasal.) Instead, the space at the top of the larynx can close up to create “twang“ which is not necessarily nasal at all!
