The Mexican semi-automatic Mondragón M1908 rifle was designed by Mexican artillery officer General Manuel Mondragón in 1904 and was a gas-operated rifle with a rotating bolt, chambered for the 7×57mm Mauser cartridge. It was adopted by the Mexican army as their first self-loading rifle in 1908. The same year, the Mexican government contracted with Swiss gun manufacturer SIG for the production of 4,000 M1908 rifles. Due to the Mexican Revolution, by 1910 only 400 rifles had been delivered by SIG and the order by the Mexican government was cancelled. In 1914 the German Empire bought the remainder of the M1908 model rifles produced by SIG for World War I and it was adopted by the Imperial German Flying Corps and the Navy. Very few Mondragón rifles still exist. Check out our Posters & T-Shirts at If you like this video, please think about supporting us on Patreon: If you want to buy me a coffee,
