The unveiling of the first ever statue of the great 19th century naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913), who independently discovered evolution by natural selection in Indonesia and jointly published the theory with Charles Darwin in 1858. The statue was donated to London's Natural History Museum by the A. R. Wallace Memorial Fund, where it was unveiled by Sir David Attenborough on the 7th November 2013 - the 100th anniversary of Wallace's death. Before it was unveiled Wallace's grandson Richard and comedian Bill Bailey (Patron of the Wallace Memorial Fund) gave excellent speeches, which can be heard in this video. For more information about the statue see This video is copyright of the Natural History Museum, London, UK. Many thanks to Sinclair Stammers for fixing a problem with the sound.
