Beatport: We welcome Dan & Dan to Bonzai Progressive with their superb debut slice entitled ‘A Little Twisted EP’. The DJ and producer duo based in Ibiza and Sheffield have been DJing for over 20 years, plying their trade across the UK and the White Island. Daniel Bumby takes his influences from being part of the late 80’s and early 90’s Sheffield Techno scene and has cultured a sound that uses these influences to edge towards the deep side of House and Techno. Dan Seaman, or Dan No.2 as he’s also known, leans towards the more Progressive/Melodic House sound that gives their productions that quality twist. Originally a Progressive House DJ (think Sasha, Digweed and Nick Warren) and brought up on the sounds of Renaissance, it was the late part of 2017 when the duo came together to start producing. They have developed their own sound, bouncing off each other’s ideas and, with a growing catalogue of tracks and the launch of their own Label - 64K Recordings, expect to hear more from them on the dancefloors. ‘A Little Twisted’ opens the release and heads straight into a dark, groovy vibe. Haunting pads and cosmic FX are joined by an intriguing vocal which adds a cool narrative to the groove. Wide pads fade up as a plucky bassline takes us to the main event. Cascading arps and trance-like melodic sequences greet us on the break as the euphoria levels rise before the drop delivers the final act. Rounding out the release, ‘Tree Of Life’ hits us with a tight dark progressive mover. Deep chugging basses drive the groove as a layer of rhythmic percussions are led by a punchy kick drum. Sporadic melodies keep the mind active as a hypnotic arp weaves through. The break reveals a surreal sequence filled with dystopian pads, soft arps and a cool spoken vocal.
