This is definitely a work in progress. Whenever I do these monologues there is something new I learn and understand that I apply to the next one. I don’t really believe in making mistakes (unless technical) when it comes to this craft, nothing is a mistake when you’re living in the truth an sincerity of each moment. I always go back to previous monologues too to see what I could have improved. Any artistic craft is a muscle that needs to be exercised daily. I initially chose a medium shot but decided to go with the close up shot. In this regard, my artistic choice was to deliberately make it contemporary. This is of course a period piece with several physical and vocal limitations inherent in it due to the times it was written in, that I do understand however I decided it would be interesting to bring a contemporary feel to it, make it even more relatable to a 2019 woman who may feel the same frustrations which Nora felt in the 18th century.
