I love to analyze musical structure and form, pointing out how composers can take a simple motif and transform it into a variety of different musical figures. But as important as it is to maintain a sense of musical cohesion, a piece that doesn't use enough new ideas throughout its runtime risks becoming boring. This balance is extremely hard to get right, but Gravity Rush composer Kohei Tanaka absolutely nails it in the 'Auldnoir Theme' which I analyze in this video. I learned a ton by analyzing this one, so I hope you learn something from watching the video! PATREON: TWITTER: NOTEBOOK: DISCORD: #GravityRush #videogamemusic #musictheory
