Thousands of Houthi supporters attended a rally in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Friday (August 9) to show solidarity with Gazans and to support the newly appointed Hamas chief, Yahya Sinwar. The protesters, many of whom were waving Palestinian flags and holding up posters of Sinwar and late Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, chanted slogans condemning Israel and the United States. “This is a message to all the sons of the Arab and Islamic nation to ask them to support the victory of our brothers in Palestine,“ said Houthi supporters, Mujahed Zaid. “We congratulate our brother, the big leader, the great jihadist Yahya Sinwar for his election“, he added. Hamas named its Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar as successor to former political chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Tehran last week, the group said on Tuesday (August 6). Sinwar, the architect of the most devastating attack on Israel in decades, has been in hiding in Gaza, defying Israeli attempts to kill him since the start of the war. #yemen #houthi #protestlive #israel #iran n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
